woven fabric

Woven fabric, also known as flat-woven fabric, is made out of a series of parallel longitudinal threads (waft) crossed with another series of parallel transversal threads (weft).

The weave is the way in which warp and weft threads are woven to create a specific fabric. The weave is also a graphic representation of crossed threads on graph paper.

Depending on the type of thread and the shape in which the weave is defined, the different fabric types, such as taffeta, twill, plain, satin, etc. are formed.

Fabrics made through warp and weft could be considered to be the most common in making pants, jackets, shirts, etc. One of the characteristics that distinguishes them from other types of fabric is that they are not elastic by nature. However, elastomers may be added to obtain this property.
