WHAT SHOULD YOU KNOW ABOUT TYPE 6 PROTECTIVE CLOTHING AGAINST CHEMICAL AGENTS?
The EN ISO 13034 Standard requires fabrics and garments to protect against small splashes of chemical products (liquids) and the level of performance is measured by their resistance to their penetration.
And within Chemical and biological protective clothing, the protection provided by the protective fabric / garment used is Type 6.
If a specific liquid is not defined, the test will be carried out with 4 different liquids: H2SO4 30% , O-xylene, Butanol, NaOH 10%.
For compliance with the standard, compliance with one of the 4 liquids is required.
For a fabric (as well as the protective garment) it must have an FC (Fluorocarbon) finish that lasts at least 5 washes, accordingly to the standard EN13034.
Once the 5 washes have been exceeded, it must be re-impregnated in each wash. It is important to consult well with your usual manufacturer / laundry so that this process follows correctly or in any case, never hesitate to ask for the washing recommendations of your usual manufacturer of technical fabric.
A garment without the correct chemical protection can cause a bad repellence of agents, chemical substances and can damage the fabric / garment.
